Fallen Angels (NPO number 175 638) was founded in February 2014 by a few devoted people already active within the animal rescue and rehabilitation circuits. The ‘FALLEN’ in Fallen Angels stands for Forgotten, Abandoned (Abused), Lost, Lonely, Emaciated, and Neglected. Any animal that falls under these categories is considered a ‘Fallen Angel’ and thus falls within the area of importance for this organization. Their current slogan is “From Torn to Reborn.” The organization focuses on not only the rescuing and fostering of animals but also using them to help rehabilitate and offer therapy to children. They have created a haven—rehabilitating and fostering animals there. Their funding is entirely donation- and sponsorship-based. The organization works within the Western Cape area. They are currently based in Melkbosstrand but extend their help to wherever it may be needed within the surrounding areas. They often work in partnership and collaboration with various other societies and NGO’s also existing in the surrounding areas and the communities to improve the quality of life of their four-legged friends. The animals are put up for adoption during Adoption Days after they have undergone rehabilitation.

Local bikers raise R13,000 for animal rescue

Odysseus Motorcycle Club – Supporting Fallen Angels Pet Rescue

Members of the Odysseus Motorcycle Club recently raised and donated R13,000 to Fallen Angels Pet Rescue near Melkbosstrand, supporting the organization’s work with abandoned and mistreated animals.

The club visited the rescue on 12 October, after handing over a cheque for R7,500 earlier in the month, paid directly toward the organization’s vet account at West Beach Animal Hospital. Additional donations of R3,850 and R1,000 followed, along with a generous supply of animal toys from an anonymous donor.

Upon arrival, the group was welcomed by volunteer Karen, who expressed heartfelt thanks for the club’s continued support. Club members also toured the facilities and helped walk some of the rescue animals.

A special thank you goes to Robert Todd, who coordinated the shopping and transport of donated items and secured discounts and sponsorships from Brackenfell Pets and Anchor Packaging—helping make every rand go further.

One highlight of the day was Dick De Kroon’s (one of the club members) adoption of a dog from the rescue, giving one furry friend a forever home.

Club members Peter and Jacqui were thanked for organizing the event, which reflects the club’s commitment to riding for good causes.

“We believe in riding for a cause, and helping animals gives our rides real purpose,” said members of the Odysseus Motorcycle Club.

Fallen Angels expressed their gratitude, saying:

The Odysseus Motorcycle Club praised the rescue for its professionalism and compassion, describing it as “one of the most well-run and caring animal organizations we’ve seen.”
